IE Defender authors disputes the classification of IE Defender

November 3rd, 2007 by AndyAtHull

Well this is comedy gold – Spandau Ballet Style!

The authors behind IE Defender dispute the classification the security community is making of their program IE Defender. But this is not the first time a dispute has happened?

If you’re a regular reader here you may remember VirusRescue. The authors behind that joke also disputed our classification (Click for more).

Back to IE Defender, it’s authors have responded with a host of messages at CastleCops:

Hello, we’re developers of IEDefender, our software is clean and is real antispyware. As we can see, people from your site send our exe to different antivirus and antispyware companies, trying to black PR our company. They’ve got answers, that our soft is clean, because IT IS CLEAN! We contacted Kaspersky, they also confirmed, there are no problems with our software, you can check our .exe with any popular antiviruses, there no problems! Stop sending your detractive mails and messages, in other case we would be forced to send all information to our lawyers and meet your representative in the court, where it would be very hard for you to prove, that our software is not real, because IT’S REAL ANTISPYWARE!”

… lol … lol … lol … and it gets better! Get yourself over at CastleCops and read all the messages in full here. And discuss it in our forum.

I recently purchased a new computer.
When i visited a site a you-tube I was infected with a brower Virus by Ie Defender.
If anyone knows the address of Ie Defender please forward it to me at my e-mail address.
If you would like to join a class-action lawsuit against this company for infecting your computer, and the damages that incurred, please leave your address.

    Hello BoBone,

First, I edited your name to remove your e-mail as it will just get harvested by spam bots.

Secondly, there is a forum you can complain at. A forum I am an admin at and gets used in the community:

    http://www.malwarecomplaints.info

You can post your feelings about this and we will use that later on.

Unfortunatly all addresses we have come up with are fake. Which is the way they operate. Filing a lawsuit would be pointless as again, they are an organisation which isn’t a legit company and likely some fools from eastern europe connected to other organisations higher up.

Again, my advice would be to visit MWC and let us know your feelings.

If by any chance have a possible link that infected you, you can also e-mail us in our contact page. Along with seeking support in our forum.

  7. AndyAtHull says:

    Hello Josh,

If you have, then you are a victim of fraud. The program does nothing of what it describes it does. This is exactly what they set out to do.

You can complain about it here if you wish to do so:

    http://www.malwarecomplaints.info

And seek help in our forum.
