Back in January we blogged about the Small.DAM Trojan which affected users at the time Europe was raged with terrible weather conditions.
This week it has emerged the Trojan has stepped up a gear according to ZDNet:
“Storm Worm emerged in January and raged across the globe in the form of e-mails with attachments that, when opened, loaded malicious software onto victims’ PCs, commandeering the machines so they could be used for further attacks.
The new Storm Worm variant attacks the machines of unsuspecting users when they open an e-mail attachment, click on a malicious e-mail link or visit a malicious site, said Dmitri Alperovitch, principal research scientist at Secure Computing.”
What it can do is use a vulnerable system which has been infected with it and then adds a malicious link on a blog comment or in a forum post.
We will certainly watch this on our forum and blog. And update this post as soon as we get more information. In the meantime discuss it here.

There are some visible changes with our home page as you may have noticed. And during this current week we have chopped and changed and knowing myself, fiddled around with the coding somewhat.
If you are having any glitches of any sort please let us know so we can take note and hopefully resolve them. Of course bare in mind this has been designed for a 1024×768 screen resolution.
Anyway enough of me going on … Let us know … I welcome all feedback.

At least it is good new:
Norwich Bulletin report:
“The former Norwich substitute teacher convicted of exposing her seventh-grade students to Internet porn is getting extra time to bolster her defense team.
Superior Court Judge Hillary Strackbein agreed Monday, court documents show, to postpone Friday’s sentencing for Julie Amero, 40, the Windham woman convicted last month on four counts of risk of injury to a minor. Her sentencing will take place March 29 in Norwich Superior Court, where she faces 40 years in prison.”
This is probably the best decision made during this trial. Let us know what you think or comment about it here.

“The jury believed that, no matter how pornography got on a school computer, substitute teacher Julie Amero didn’t do enough to protect students from it. The full trial transcript is available below in the Amero special section.”
A load of crap rolled into one I think on that quotation but read the full trial transcript here. This just makes my blood boil. If it does yours, tell us here.

Update time again for Firefox users. They have released version 2.0.0.2 to which I got a suprise. Java version 6 came up as a none compatible add-on! (checked and seems to be working fine!)
What the new things are in this version:
- Security Update: The following list of security issues have been fixed.
- Windows Vista Support: Many enhancements and fixes for Windows Vista are included along with the following caveats.
- New Languages: Beta releases for several new languages are now available for testing.
- Permissions Bug Fixed: In the German (de) locale on Windows and Linux, resolved a problem with certain files tagged as read-only.
Release Notes / Direct Download / just click on Help then Check for Updates in the Firefox browser. You can also discuss it here.

It’s true. Things are drying out. Have we won the war? Doubt it! Is it all going to kick of? You bet! But in the meantime I have gathered some articles of interest mainly because I’m too lazy to even make an article right now and rather busy with other projects.
Some good articles there. Hopefully when things die down here I can start blogging again. Have fun! And stay safe!

And with that you get a big ice-cream, from me! Because I can!
We now have a support chat open for anyone to log on and post anything to us that is related to malware.
Why have we made this move? Simple really. To reach out to those who cannot reach us.
Over the last few weeks I have tested the Mambo widget which allows you to speak with guests on the page you have it loaded. And the response was great. Several people asked for things. And went away happy.
I also found this a simple method for all parties involved. Easier for anyone we help in future.
The main link to look out for is the Live Support (IRC) on both this blog and our forum. Clicking on that will direct you to a different page. Please read what it says carefully and log in when you feel ready.
There are terms & guidlines to follow which are simple. You can read our forum rules, which will be updated with new rules about the chat room. And of course the login page will have general rules & notes listed.
Feel free to ask us anything. Aslong as it is related to computer issues. We have our team waiting. Just take into consideration that we may not be able to answer straight away.
Post mirrored in our Announcement forum.

…. Then let us know!
This last week has been crazy for me and for us. I have been all over the place with new ideas for this place, blogging about rogues and all this whilst our site had some downtime a few days ago.
This of course meant things halted slightly. Like e-mail notifications and confirmation mail when you first register. All related to the forum.
We apologize to those who never received any of the above. Whether it was you registering or waiting for a reply to a topic you have subscribed too. Confirmation mail has been resent.
One way to make sure you get notification is to log in and look to the top of the forum page for My Controls then click on it. Look for Email Settings and click. In there you can customize the settings to your needs.
If you are still experiencing anything that you think we may not know about. Let us know here. We need more eyes to help us iron anything out.
Numpty Alert! - If you have experience with IRC - WyldRyde give me a buzz here or on the forum. Interested in setting one up here.
