New possible rogue – VirusRescue
August 11th, 2006 by AndyAtHullThanks to Nick on discovering a possible new rogue!
He managed to find this by spam, so spam is good for a reason…..well sometimes!
According to his post on his blog. This new rogue has all the hallmarks of being the same as the SpywareQuake, which is similar to other rogues out there!
This is the warning you may receive. And as you can see, SpyHeal is on there. As is AntiVirusGold which are known rogues. And the warning is fake. The warning is just there to lure users in, download their program and pay for the rogue product.
Now with this new rogue, you may get a second rogue warning from SpywareQuake. As this came with the same codec Nick downloaded earlier.

**For all you internuts out there. I have changed my wording slightly**
Update – We now have a removal guide: Remove VirusRescue (removal instructions)

VirusRescue is not a Trojan and is not a rogue software. VirusRescue really removes all the infections from your PC and has on of the best scanning & detection engines in industry and is supported by daily database updates. It removes everything including mentioned SpywareQuake. VirusRescue has nothing to do with Spyheal and SpywareQuake. It\\\’s a fact. The problem is that it is really hard to track all adverts and the ways they promote your program. Very often these ways are not honest and this article is a sample of such way of promotion. But a proven fact is – VirusRescue is not a fake – it\\\’s a powerful antivirus solution protecting it\\\’s users from all the possible infections.
Thank you.

Well sorry. That doesn’t fill me with confidence:

To VirusRescue:
VirusRescue qualifies as rogue software based on it’s distribution methods regardless of its ability to clean spyware/viruses. Your program is being *PROMOTED* by malware — the fake codecs that are Zlob variants.
